No Action Without Passion
From ‘Ben Hur to ‘The Matrix’, the use of combat has been one of – if not the best – ways to tell a story. The willingness to sacrifice through the medium of the sword and fist has existed throughout human history. My approach to combat in film and on stage is not about how elaborate the moves are or how big the fights seem, it's about the intent behind it, it's about why you are fighting!
"I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of Men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the Age of Men comes crashing down, but it is not this day! This day we fight!"
- Aragorn (Return of the King - 2003)
